Anorexia Nervosa is a severe eating disorder which often emerges between the ages of 14 to early twenties, although it can affect older people. It affects mostly girls but boys are also known to affect boys. With Covid and Lockdowns, eating disorders have increased in the number of those living with the disorders. Anorexia is one of them. What is Anorexia Nervosa? Anorexia is a serious mental health disorder where the person living with Anorexia tries to keep their weight as low as possible and in doing so severely restricts their food intake. This severe food restriction can be fatal. They are, essentially, starving their body of vital nutrition and energy and have huge anxieties around food and the intake of food. They may skip meals and not eat for days at a time and when they do, it's of very little calorific value. |
